Our famous events are back in full swing, with their respective security protocols. On Sunday, March 13, our traditional Kermesse took place, where children and adults enjoyed a great family time during eight hours full of healthy Hawaiian-style entertainment.
Our wonderful PTA team shone with this great event, supported by ASFC staff. It was a day by the ASFC Community for the ASFC community, carried out with great enthusiasm and joy.
The Kermesse was hosted within our American School facilities; market stalls and eating spaces were assigned, where attendees found everything from delicious sandwiches, coffee, drinks, accessories, clothing, footwear, regional sauces, vegetables, furniture, beauty products and even kitchen utensils. The focus of this activity is promoting as a school the importance of supporting the economy of our parents and local businesses.
One of our pillars at the American School is to be caring and collaborative, which was represented with the presence of distinguished guests from different associations that work to benefit the wider community. This year we had the participation of the DIF, the Salesian shelter and animal rescue associations: COMAFFAS and Huellas Chiapas, who shared a space to jointly generate social awareness and obtain funding to continue with their important missions.
Representing some of our great academies, we enjoyed the traditional Bulldog Soccer Tournament where male and female teams from high schools and middle schools around the city participated with the hope of winning the trophy! Parents were also participants in their special category, and the tournament ended with the trophy ceremony.
Skateboarding, rollerblading, robotics and taekwondo took to the stage with demonstrations of what the students together with their academy coaches have been working on.
There were cheers, applause and big smiles all around during our traditional Talent Show, where students participated voluntarily demonstrating skills such as singing, dancing and/or playing an instrument. We had great exhibitions from many students from kindergarten through to high school. We congratulate them for their brilliant performances and we keep encouraging all of our students to develop different talents from an early age, as well as the initiative and confidence to share what they are most passionate about.
This year there were games for all ages; Day care babies had a specialized area for them cared for by expert staff; children young and old had fun with a selection of extreme games, where laughter could be heard at all times.
We are so happy to have been able to create a space where families could enjoy a different and very entertaining Sunday.
We look forward to hosting our next events. Keep an eye on our social media for more information!
