On Tuesday, September 15th, the ASFC community joined in the celebration of Mexican independence.
Staff and students were encouraged to wear traditional clothes and our online activities focused on honouring and celebrating our great country and developing national pride and identity in our students.
The celebration of the Grito de Independencia has a familiar feeling every year, in public squares throughout the country people gather to shout, wave flags and share food and drinks in the name of Mexico.
Shouting Viva Mexico! and listening to the bells is a beautiful common tradition for many Mexicans on the early morning of September 15th; attending events and festivals across the main squares is one of the most common ways to celebrate this day.
This year the celebrations were different, with people celebrating indoors with their close families and loved ones. Nevertheless it was a joyous occasion and a lovely moment for us all to feel proudly Mexicans.
The Independence day is a good time to remind ourselves how to be truly good citizen who respect and honour our country:
Happy Independence Day Mexico!
